It’s a convenient and easy option for enjoying the outdoors while getting in your twenty minutes.
The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, just north of Historic Downtown Franklin on Franklin Rd. provides a great escape for those who yearn for a stroll in the country but only want to drive minutes to get there. The farm was established in 1933 by W.W. Harlin and has served mainly as a breeding operation since the 1940’s.
Another five miles north just off Concord Road, Tower Park offers a labyrinth of walking paths that meander around soccer fields, creeks and green meadows. There’s even a Nutro dog park for your furry friends.
Those looking to escape to the wilderness (or at least feel like it for a while) need only drive a short distance to find the peace only nature can deliver. Just another ten miles up the road is Radnor Lake Stature Natural Area. You’re highly likely to spot any number of wildlife including deer, owls, turtles, herons and waterfowl as you leave the city behind in the 1,332-acre park.

No matter where you go or who you’re with getting your 20 minutes in doesn’t have to be a chore. Here are four tips to staying active even on the most chaotic of days.
Be an Early Bird. A brisk 20-minute walk is a great way to get prepared for the day ahead. Plus, becoming an A.M. exerciser means you get to cross your workout off your to-do list ASAP.
Make it a Date. Walking and talking go hand-in-hand, making it the perfect way to catch up with your spouse or an old friend.
Sneak in a Lunchtime Stroll. If you normally go out for lunch, consider walking instead of driving. If you’re a brown-bagger, step outside the office and take a stroll around the building. Just ten minutes of brisk walking can clear your head and help you perform better.
Take the Kids With You. Got a young brood? Invest in a jogging stroller to get your miles in without paying big bucks for a sitter.
